Who needs a Tailgator brake Light?

Then how do you install?

How Does Tailgator Tail Lights work?

Why is Tailgator the best brake light you can buy:

  • We analyzed all regular tail lights and improved on best features:

  • Lumens (100 x 3 LEDs), battery life (1000ma battery), housing quality and more

  • Accelerometer more advanced than other brake lights use. More costly but we assumed safety is worth a bit more.

  • Spent 2 years testing and improving performance. Fewer false brake events

  • Result: brighter, more accurate performance as a brake light or even a tail light

  • The safety of yourself and your loved ones does not have a price tag

How do you get the best performance from the Tailgator?

  • Best results on streets or roads in average to good condition, some natural rough spots

  • Many dirt trails or fire roads work well but not jumping boulders or roots

  • Stopping or moderate deceleration to significant decrease in speed is ideal

  • Descending rapidly on hills and braking for corners gets excellent results

  • The light is programmed to NOT light up at slow speeds; a 3 mph or so decrease in speed. You do not want lights going on constantly, only when needed.

  • Attach light to seat post. Not helmet or back pack. Constant body movement will cause light to be erratic and wear down battery.

  • Going uphill the light is erratic due to body motion. But, how often do you brake going uphill?

Exploring battery life…Separating facts from fiction
  • Battery life is based on braking every 90 seconds

  • Braking (300 lumens at once) causes most energy drain from battery

  • Heavy traffic or more frequent braking may lessen battery estimates. To resolve that, we use the largest battery in any light. There are no riding sacrifices using a brake light

  • This is not a tail light where lighting is constant and time can be more specific.

  • Three light modes use braking, two do not. The non-battery modes will last a very long time. Different flashing patterns produce different results – consult information book.

  • Accuracy is important thus no extravagant claims of 25-50 hours of battery life are made.

Why not just use hand signals to warn people behind me?

  • Most bike hand signals are not recognized today.

  • Let’s be safe and let technology help here.

  • Three LEDs flashing on at the same time is easily understood

  • Many people scratch their heads and say this is such a logical idea, why didn’t it come sooner? Resistance to change? No available solution that actually worked well? Why did it take so long to discover the wheel? A bike helmet? Seat belts? It takes time and innovation.
